Welcome to volume 6.1 of The Pewterer! This is the first issue of 2015, and it contains some really interesting articles. For example, we start with an article by David Hall on pewter Forgeries; with that we have an article by Jan Burge on cleaning pewter with chemicals, one that comes with a very serious health warning if
you are going to handle dangerous chemicals in the process! In fact, probably better not. We continue with our Pewter Overseas series with the story of Lankan Pewter; then the first in a series on 'Pewter in Art'. In the wake of the triennial Pewterers' Lecture, we have a retrospective of Pewterer Fellows to date. Coming up at the end of May is Pewter Live 2015, and we look forward to that, as well as to the European Pewter Union meeting in Brescia in May.Then there are a couple of book reviews; a look at Partners in Pewter and their innovative Pewter Live prize; and, finally,a simple little competition. Do let me have your comments and observations; and if you have the urge to write, do please submit articles, for publication, on the subject of pewter. Before I sign off, I have received the sad news that Derek Weeks died at the end of March after a short illness. Derek, a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Pewterers, spent his working life at Englefields. We intend to publish an Obituary in the next issue of this e-zine. Alan Williams
