Welcome to issue 5.2, the September issue of The Pewterer. The Worshipful Company of Pewterers had a very successful Pewter Live,
2014, at which the Association of British Pewter Craftsmen initiated a
Commercial Prize - a prize for the entry which, in their view, had the
greatest commercial potential. This issue, has articles on a broad range of subjects, from
Tudor Kitchens, through Rochester Cathedral's pewter bosses and
Rochester's French Hospital's pewter collection, to Craftsmen like Philip Wakeham (the next issue will include an article on Ed Glover and Glover & Smith, and from times past, a look at the Thomas
Scattergoods). Also, we report on what appears to have been the Worshipful Company of Pewterers' first visit to Bewdley since 1705, on the 'discovery' of another Pewterers' Hall and of a remarkable collection of pewter in an Inn. Finally, those bones ... well read on! I hope you enjoy it! But, always, keep your comments (good, and well, bad) flowing in! Alan Williams
